Spooktacular Chips & Dip!

Halloween is just around the corner! One thing I love about Taste of Home is that they offer so many clever, creative recipes for all the holidays throughout the year. Halloween is no exception.  Be sure to check out the Top 10 Recipes for Halloween found TasteofHome.com

One of my favorites is the “Spider Web Dip with Bat Tortilla Chips”. The dip is made with a delicious combination of cream cheese, salsa and guacamole. Yumm! And, the spider web effect on the top of the dip is made by placing a few tablespoons of sour cream in a plastic storage bag. You simply snip off the tip of one corner on the bag and pipe out circles. Finally, a knife is carefully pulled through the sour cream to create the web.

Making your own tortilla chips from purchased flour tortillas is so easy. Cut the tortillas into shapes with your favorite fall cookie cutters. If you don’t have a bat-shaped cutter, use whatever you do have — leaves, ghosts, or pumpkins would also work well. Crisp them up in the oven at 350 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes.

We hope to see you at one of the Taste of Home Cooking Schools this fall!  I’m heading to the Duluth, MN area this weekend.  I’m looking forward to it!

  1. I’m back from our cooking school in the Duluth, MN area this past Saturday. What a fun crowd of Taste of Home fans. Thank you to everyone who attended the show — and especially to those of you who stopped by the stage with a question or comment. It was so nice to meet you! I appreciated the great help from Nick and Kimberly from Townsquare Media who organized the cooking school. And, also Cathy Kates and Ken Hayes for emceeing the show. Great job! — Karen Davis, Culinary Specialist, Taste of Home Cooking School
