Halloween Treats for Your Goblins


With Halloween only 3 days away and today being National Chocolate Day, we better get some goodies prepared for your little GOBBLINS. Put your creative chef hat on and let’s see what we can do to get your kids involved… chocolate, Halloween, goblins, kids, Hmmmmmm CUPCAKES!
You’ll want to make several different kinds of cool looking cupcakes so let’s start off with the Mummy Cupcakes!

Ingredients

  • Cupcakes of your choice
  • 1 can (16 ounces) chocolate frosting
  • Pastry tip—basket weave tip #46
  • 1 can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting
  • Blue and black decorating gel

Directions

  • Frost cupcakes with chocolate frosting. For noses, drop a small mound
  • of chocolate frosting in the center of each cupcake.
  • Insert tip #46 into a pastry bag; fill with vanilla frosting.  Pipe
  • long bands across each cupcake, leaving small gaps for the eyes and
  • mouths. With blue gel, pipe eyes. Add pupils with black gel. Yield:
  • varies.

Tombstone Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 package  cake mix of your choice (regular size)
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 24 Milano cookies
  • 1 can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting
  • 1/2 cup chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 1 cup chow mein noodles
  • 24 orange gumdrops
  • 3 green gumdrops, cut into small pieces

Directions

  • Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions for
  • cupcakes; cool completely.
  • For tombstones, in the microwave, melt chocolate chips. Pipe “RIP”
  • onto cookies; place on waxed paper to dry.
  • Frost cupcakes; sprinkle with chocolate wafer crumbs. Carefully
  • insert tombstones into cupcakes. Arrange chow mein noodles to
  • resemble fingers. Use gumdrops to make pumpkins; place in front of
  • tombstones. Yield: 2 dozen.
