Trick or Treat!

This unique chili freezes well…but it still doesn’t last around our farmhouse very long, especially when my five children and 13 grandchildren are around! —Betty Butler, Greencastle, Indiana

I’ve never been fan of scary movies, so Halloween has always been about the food for me.  My mom always makes a big pot of homemade chili on Halloween, and if I’m not on the road doing shows, I like to follow that tradition as well.  She lets it simmer all day long, using dried beans, not canned, and I have fond memories of coming home from school and smelling the delicious chili that had been cooking all day.  I might try a new recipe this fall; I won’t be home for Halloween, but this Pumpkin Chili recipe looks delicious!

Come late October, friends and family in Parkville, Missouri can “count” on Christy Hinrichs to re-introduce them to her easily recognizable, darling Dracula cookies.

I love making sugar cookies for all the holidays, and Halloween definitely doesn’t get left out!  Pumpkins, bats, ghosts and more are decorated and then given away to friends and family (after I take care of any “mistakes”, of course!).  I might have to get a little more creative next time . . . take a look at some of these Halloween cookies!

However you celebrate Halloween, good food is a requirement, and you can find any type of recipe you want on www.tasteofhome.com.  Happy Cooking!
