It’s Pumpkin Carving Time Again!

Some of you may remember that I carved a pumpkin last year using a template.  I also roasted the pumpkin seeds too.  Well, I had so much fun doing that, I wanted to do it again this year.  Only this year, I got my boyfriend to carve a pumpkin too! I thought it would be something fun for us to do together, and it was!  Plus, I wanted double the seeds to roast since they were so good last year.

I found two great pumpkins.  I also had bought a book of templates and more carving tools last year in preparation for carving pumpkins this year.  I wanted to see if I could find some templates online too, just to have more options.  There are tons of free templates you can download for your carving fun.  I found some great ones from Reader’s Digest.

Before the fun!

So we cleaned out our pumpkins, saving the seeds of course, attached our templates and started carving.  I picked a cute owl and he picked a grim reaper.  Carving pumpkins can get a little messy so I put down a vinyl tablecloth for easy clean up.  It didn’t take very long to carve them.  My new carving tools, that came with the book of templates, really helped.

Of course then we were ready to light them to see the pumpkins glow!  I think they turned out really good!  We were proud!

Don’t they look great?!

The next day I roasted the seeds using a recipe that I found on www.tasteofhome.com.  I just went there and typed in “pumpkin seeds” and got 38 results.  There was even a Pumpkin Seed Toffee that looked good, but  I picked the Spicy Pumpkin Seeds.  The recipe was very easy and they tasted great!!!

Did you carve a pumpkin this year?  If so, I want to see your photos!   Go like My Facebook page, and post your pumpkin photos!!!  If you didn’t carve a pumpkin, is there a favorite scary movie you just have to watch every Halloween?  If so, tell me what it is.  I am not much on scary movies in general, but I love fun Halloween movies like Casper (1995 version), Hocus Pocus with Bette Midler and Halloweentown starring Debbie Reynolds!

Until next time, Happy Cooking & Carving!
