My Halloween- New and Old

My memories were cold crisp nights being driven to different neighborhoods by my grandmother along with my twin sister and a few friends in her VW bug. It fit the night well going from home to home in an insect… dressed up as creatures of the night. The candy, fruit and occasional fresh baked goodies filled our bags along with fears of scary homes designed to scare the kajeebers out of us and see who would run back to the waiting,  loving arms of my grandmother. She would take us home where we would trade things we didn’t like with our siblings and hopefully catch Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Werewolf, and Dracula. I always wondered how they got all 4 those creatures in one movie with a zany comedy team. Ah, now those were movies…

I just had a Halloween themed Taste of Home show in Williamsport, Pa. that was scary good! The stage alone took the better part of the day building a huge moon with a flying witch, hanging ghosts from the rafters in this grand old venue that was begging to go back to scary old days with hay bales and cob webs everywhere. They had a wonderful best dressed contest where a good 40% of attendees were in amazing costumes all vying for the grand prize. What really took the cake was that this was my 100th show, Taste of Homes 20th year anniversary and Readers Digest 90th year that really sent this show over the top!

I enjoy all holidays but Halloween is really the scary, fun, dress-up, it’s Ok to do what you want cause you’re wearing a mask day, OK- Ok, I’ll stop-

MUMMY CUPCAKE RECIPE:  These Halloween mummies are not scary at all! Their bright blue eyes and cute little smiles will enchant your party guests.

  1. Was a little disappointed in the show last night in Fishersville, VA in the past they have given us little samples of thing in our bag this year they gave a better bag but no samples. I do enjoy the little helpful hints that Cheryl does give us when she is cooking .More than likely my friend and I will be back next year.
