The Day After the Holiday: Thank You, Judy Clark from Elkhart, IN

If you’d like a roll that melts in your mouth, you have to try Mom’s recipe. She has just the right touch when she’s mixing up this dough. The rolls smell absolutely heavenly as they bake to a golden brown. -Judy Clark, Elkhart, Indiana

It’s no secret to anyone close to me that the 4th of July is my favorite holiday!  I’d imagine the build-up and great feelings that I associate with this momentous day is equivalent to Christmas for many.  Months in advance,  I find myself planning not only what I’ll wear, but also what I’ll be preparing in the kitchen.  This year was no different despite the interesting experience of celebrating on a Wednesday.  My co-workers had the benefit of immediate leftovers, my U.S.A. musical mega mix and even some reminders of my outfit (through my Red, White and Blue pedicure).

Like Christmas there is this somber day-after-the-holiday reflection that I’m feeling today. Unlike Christmas, I’m not at the store hitting up the sales, I’m typing away at the Taste of Home offices.  After enjoying some warm, freshly made bakery (one of your recipes) down in our Test Kitchen with a few members of the team, my reflection immediately resonated into the positive sense of pride.

You see, my friends, that when I started working with this great team at this amazing magazine, I never could have anticipated what an incredible little community we have here at Taste of Home.  We are fortunate to work with all of YOU every day. You share your recipes, your traditions, your love with us and WE APPRECIATE IT.

The delicious Icebox Butterhorns recipe that melted in my mouth today is just one of 1,485 favorites that will be featured in Best Loved Recipes that will be hitting store shelves this Fall.  You’ll see more details in the August/September issue of Taste of Home, but I must let you in on this secret now in order to start planning for yourself and all of your loved ones.  This cookbook will be like no other that we’ve seen anywhere.  Not only is it BEAUTIFUL and a book you’d be proud to have in your home, but it’s full of recipes from the last 20 years that we LOVE.  This is a book that embodies all the memories and traditions evoked from each recipe we share with each other at Taste of Home.  Since you’re apart of our close community, you’ll be order it long before the Fall.  Check out the Taste of Home August/September issue for more details.

From our Taste of Home family here in Greendale, WI today…

THANK YOU to the Judy Clark’s of the world that share your recipes with us. We are happy to have you as members of the Taste of Home family.
