Well I have enjoyed the nice fall weather we’ve had in my neck of the woods recently. I wish it would stay this way. I have been ready since May for cooler weather.
Over the weekend I was really in the Halloween spirit! I carved a pumpkin for my front porch. Using a template for the first time ever. I found the cutest pumpkin pattern kit at a store near my house. I was a little nervous because I am not very artistic so I wondered if I could actually do this even with a pattern to follow. So I started with my careful pumpkin selection at my local grocery store, and found what I thought was the perfect one!
I brought my pumpkin home and set it on the table. I waited a couple of days before I got up the nerve to actually do the carving. Once the pumpkin was hollowed out and the pattern traced, the real work began. I did buy a little carving tool which worked GREAT! Everything worked out perfectly! I was quite proud of myself.
Now I just had to wait until it was dark to see it glow. So while I waited, I roasted my pumpkin seeds. This was the first time I have ever roasted the seeds. I found a great recipe on www.tasteofhome.com, http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/Roasted-Pumpkin-Seeds. They were delicious! I was so excited, that I sent my nephew, Garrett, a text to tell him about the seeds. He texted back “You can eat the seeds!?!?!”. He now wants to roast some seeds of his own. He loves to cook.
Finally it was dark. The candle was lit. My pumpkin glowed!
Happy Halloween and Happy Cooking!
